Pioneer Farm was set up in 1973 on land provided by the State Government as a Public Reserve.

The museum attempts to give a history of the valley from pre-history with a selection of rocks from different levels of the land upheavals that helped form the mountains to some large rocks situated in the grounds that contain fossils. With the display of rocks there is a relief map made by Professor John Griffiths.
